Differences between Region 0 and Region 1?

Is there any quality difference between the Belgian release by the Royal Film Archive and the Barrel Release? PAL to NTSC, Ghosting, etc?

I would prefer the Barrel DVD but as long as I don't really know which disc has the better image quality...

I found a comparison at 10kbullets.com but somehow, it wasn't too helpful.
