The castle used in the film was Glengorm Castle on the north of the Island of Mull. I was there the day they filmed the scenes . Miss Davis was stung by a wasp during the filming and was flown by helicopter to hospital in Oban for treatment
shareI was on Mull in the summer of 1971 when they were filming.
I was 9 at the time and I remember Miss Davis's Personal Assistant taking a bit of a shine to my then 14yo brother!
I'd forgotten about the sting.
I can confirm it was Glengorm because they looked at my family home Torosay as well.
The only reason I can think why they chose Glengorm over us was that it was much further off the beaten track and therefore helped keep prying eyes away from the notoriously reclusive Bette.
Incidentally Torosay was used in 2 other films: I Know Where I'm Going (1945) and Entrapment (1999), whilst our neighbour across the bay Duart was featured extensively in When Eight Bells Toll (1971)
