Few Nitpicks That I Have…

First I realize there is nudity in this movie but I thought or was under the impression there was actually much more than is shown. In the resurrection scene for Mircalla, I have seen still photos of where she was topless & fully nude, full frontal but I was surprised that this wasn’t so in the film, not at least from what I saw. Which leads me to believe maybe there’s another cut of this somewhere but I thought this was the real deal.

Count Karnstein seems to be everywhere that Mircalla is whenever she’s killing anyone so why wasn’t he there when Richard & her were making love, where she “didn’t” kill him? Plot convenience? When Giles asks her to meet him she shows up true to her character ready to kill him, but when Richard asks her she shows up actually in a mood to talk & hear him out & not readily kill him. Another plot convenience? When Mircalla failed to kill Janet I don’t think he was present then either.

When the Karnsteins went to the castle to await the villagers & the priests who were coming to destroy them, didn’t anybody, including the American father of Susan say “Hey, that’s that doctor guy! That’s the countess!” I’m sure the headmistress of the school would’ve wanted to know that, including the dad.

It’s obvious Mircalla still had no intention of harming Richard, so what kinda voodoo did the count pull to get her to do so? It had to be clear to Richard she was being controlled but who knew that the count had that power, especially over another vampire? What happens now? Shes dead for good? The count & countess now have to wait another 40 years? Why would they wait? Why 40 years? Where would they stay till then? Why would the villagers & clergy wait until then? That’s the real mystery. Makes no sense but ok. Like I said a few nitpicks I have with this. You may add yours if you like.

I don't think there is another cut to the film. I would say that the more explicit stills of Yutte Stansgaard, who played Mircalla, were taken just to promote the film as a tease. There is a revealing view of her in the film when she is sitting on the bed when the school official enters the room at lights out. She sits there in full view without any attempt to cover herself up quickly. Not strictly topless but her breasts hang there fully exposed.

I admit that Mircalla does a quick turnabout after she asks the Count for her to spare Richard. But one word from the Count and she switches to killer mode without turning a hair.

Greenbudgie answered your question about the promotion still that evidently wasn't in the movie (although I saw a scene that looked pretty close to that bloody still, i.e. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067367/mediaviewer/rm4154097665/).

As powerful as Count Karnstein is in the movie, he wasn't omnipotent or omnipresent. He couldn't be everywhere all the time. This isn't a plot hole, but simply the way it is.

Due to Carmilla being resurrected via the blood of an innocent virgin, it's implied that she struggled between her human self and her undead self. Her human half falls in love with Richard Lestrange while her undead half mercilessly preys upon Susan and Giles Barton in the dead of night.

When the Karnsteins went to the castle to await the villagers & the priests who were coming to destroy them, didn’t anybody, including the American father of Susan say “Hey, that’s that doctor guy! That’s the countess!”

Since the castle was burning no one was stupid enough to go inside except for the lovelorn Lestrange. So no one recognized the "doctor" or "Countess Herritzen."

What happens now? Shes dead for good? The count & countess now have to wait another 40 years? Why would they wait? Why 40 years? Where would they stay till then? Why would the villagers & clergy wait until then? That’s the real mystery. Makes no sense but ok.

Does vampire lore ever make sense? In any case, according to what is detailed in this particular flick, Carmilla was gone for good since she was staked thru the heart with the falling beam. The Count & Countess apparently will return in forty years, 1870, since fire cannot destroy them.
