Have a question...

(SPOILERS!!!)

The movie moved at such a fast pace, with so many red-herrings, that I'm left a little confused by the ending. Ok, so Carol did kill Julia...fine. And the reason she left the murder weapon behind (along with the scarf and coat) was because the hippies spooked her? So, bottom line, had she realized that the hippies were tripping and not actually witnesses to the crime, she'd have gotten away with the murders? She created that whole story she told the pyschiatrist because she was banking on getting off on an insanity plea?

4 1/2 years later ... no she wouldn't have gotten away with it or a plea of insanity because the Inspector had worked out she knew about the blackmail call and that her version of how she knew exposed her as the killer.
Why problem make? When you no problem have, you don't want to make ...
