Who sings the theme song?

Sounds like BJ Thomas to me. Anybody actually know for sure? Found Annibale but nothing more on this guy.

The name is Alessandro Alessandroni. He is the same guy whistling in the Morricone dollary trilogy themes.

Actually the OP is right, the singer's name is Annibale: the only info I found on him is that he was an Italo-Australian who unsuccessfully tried to break in the Italian music industry at the time.
Alessandroni is on the record also though, providing his usual blend of whistle and choir with his "Cantori Moderni" band.

Franco Micalizzi is the composer but I'm pretty certain he does not actually perform it.

From the Soundtrack section of IMDB for this film:

They Call Him Trinity
Written by Franco Micalizzi (as F. Micalizzi), Harold Stott (as L. Stott)
Performed by Annibale E I Cantori Moderni

Annibale Giannarelli (http://www.martinentertainment.com.au/artists.view.php?id=351) is an Italian-Australian singer and provides lead vocals. "I Cantori Moderni" was an 8-voice chorus under the direction of Alessandro Alessandroni (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alessandro_Alessandroni) and provides backing vocals. Whistling is by Alessandroni.
