PARAMOUNT PICTURES

I can't believe a major studio like Paramount backed this movie. It has a low-budget independent feel to it.

I was thinking the same thing today. I wondered if a similar film would be backed by a major studio this day and age. Maybe if it had less than a $5 million budget and was produced by Blumhouse.

When this film was finished it lacked a distributor, a advertise exec choose this film as he said it really scared him and others at Paramount. He stated that the "rawness" of the film added to the suspense.

So, ironically, this "Low-budget" feel made this film appealing and attractive to this major Film Corporation.

Good thread! Interesting.
And why is the movie poster to this so tacky and cheap looking??
Back then movie poster art was incredible-- I wonder if the poster was done BEFORE this was picked up by Paramount? It probably made a TON of money because it was such a cheap movie as well.
