showtime is airing a doc on the making of le mans if interested

heres some learned facts if you don't/cabn't watch:

steve was in a car accident right before the film having having a fling with his leading lady

one of the drivers lost his leg in an accident, steve tried to have the film dedicated to him and some proceeds go to him, the studio didn't agree

the production was a mess because of no script and a big faiure for steve who was depressed with the end result

It's a pretty well done documentary and shows what a mess the production of the whole project from start to finish was. However, it has some dumb recreations (the slow-mo glass flying in the car accident scene that you mention), too much focus on the ex-wife and the thing that drives me nuts in documentaries: pointless shots of fields and sky and cities that are there just to set a scene. There's a great documentary about the Muscle Shoals recording studio that has at least 15 minutes of pointless shots of rivers, leaves on rivers, leaves on rivers going downstream. We get it! The recording studio is in rural Alabama, jeebus.

Interesting that the McQueens were involved to Sharon Tate's house the night of the infamous murders, but Neilie didn't want to go. Next day everyone was asking her about Steve. They thought he'd gone without her and had been one of the victims.
