Why did... (SPOILERS)

Why did Jacy leave a note to her parents explaining the running away with Sonny??

Was she trying to get attention and some thrills out of life??

Was she trying to destroy Sonny?

My thoughts were that Jacy represented all the hot teases in high school. She flirted (putting it mildly) her way through men fearing to be lonely. marrying sonny was a desperate act that she wanted to be rescued from. i equated it to attempted suicide- a cry for attention (more common with woman than men).

...hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

As well as that, she was a spoiled rich-kid who wanted to shock and upset her parents (ie get their attention) by doing things against type, hanging with the kind of guys they disapproved of and generally not following the route they had mapped out for her. When she was driving with Sonny after the wedding she was impatiently shrugging him off whilst itching to be caught by the police and revealed as the "bad girl" she so desperately wanted to appear.

yeah i think she did it for attention. why else would she leave a note of all things?

Notice how she keeps resisting any advances by Sonny, and notice the expression on her face when she first sees that the cop has turned around and pursues them. She was wanting to be stopped. So her leaving the note was a part of the whole thing. She wanted the excitement and yet she didn't really want marriage with Sonny.

Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies

She left the note because she knew her parents would come get her, and she can leave Sonny then. When she’s driving and passes the police car - she smiles for a second. She smiles again when the car turns around and follows them. She also pushes Sonny away when he’s touching her in the car.

Jacy didn’t like Sonny; she had no interest in him. The marriage was just her being a flirt / tease / bitch.
