its out of print. there are used VHS copies you can buy on Amazon.

It turns up on eBay quite often, theres a couple of VHS copies on at the moment.

I wouldn't worry about seeing it. The movie is absolutely awful and should be viewed as an enormous blemish on Dennis Hopper's record.

I saw a nice print of it at the american cinematheque in santa monica. Often obscure films that are shown at the cinematheque come out on dvd later. I can't say for certain. I just noticed the pattern.

I liked it. You just have to take it for what it is. It seems to be carefully constructed. not random. for instance in the sex show scene when the fur coat lady is getting off, on the wall behind her on either side is a photo. one of starving kids, all rib cages and bellies and the other a body builder. if that's not a commentary on the film industry i don't know what is.

Dictated, but not read.

If anyone is interested in an excellent DVD-R of 'The Last Movie' which is far superior in terms of picture and sound quality to the rare VHS versions that appear for sale now and again on ebay & amazon, then feel free to email me at: [email protected]

I can't see this film ever getting an official DVD release, especially in these days when the DVD market has been crushed by the internet. Maybe a Universal "vault series" DVD-R will be the closest it ever comes to that, ideally Criterion would pick it up and release it on a double disc along with the American Dreamer doc. but I've never read about them expressing the faintest interest in doing so. Looks like the whole "torrent/rapidshare/streaming" will have to do for most people, ugh.

Don't bother. You may be very dissapointed.I saw it when it was released and it was the first film I ever walked out on. Major stinkage. Poor camera work. No story. Lame dialog.A real bust.

In the UK it was shown on BBC2 in the early 90's.
