Finally, an honest, positive review!

Yes, it is a wonderful film with such a spooky atmosphere! It was a great, creative take on the story and the monster was scary-looking. It was even a nearly unstoppable killing machine. We needed to see a Frankenstein monster like that and this movie gave a perfect one. I only wonder why the monster didn't kill the boy, since it was killing everyone else. It was probably because the director thought no one would want to see that- and he's probably right. It was bad enough that his parents were killed right in front of him.

The Lynch character reminded me of Boris Karloff in Body Snatchers. Perhaps that's what the actor was going for. This made me realize, especially when the name "Burke" came up, that they took inspiration from the real life Burke and Haire case (which the film The Body Snatchers is a take on), which happened after Frankenstein was first published. I know, there were no murders on the parts of the body snatchers here, but still. How great an idea it is to combine Burke and Hare with Frankenstein! Is this the first movie to do so, even to a degree? I think the 1930's, Bride of Frankenstein with Karloff did that somewhat.

Even though your review was short, to-the-point one-liner, it's a lot better than the multiple-paragraph ones that rag on what the reviewers claim to believe is bad coloring, bad acting, bad plot, bad writing, so on, etc, ad nauseum. Many of these reviews even call the movie camp! It's not camp. Not at all. Young Frankenstein is horror camp. Mel Brooks did not intend to make a serious horror movie. But the director of Lady Frankenstein director did, and the attempt is a success. Actually, I do believe that if someone really feels that this or any movie is a stinker, they should speak out. But most every review I read of any horror film is negative and I'm tired of it. I always have good things to say about a horror movie, even if it is bad- which this one isn't.

FYI to the negative reviewers, there are people (me included) who like old-looking color in old color films. It's like what people say about having gray hair- it makes you look distinguished. Also, if you don't like the plot, acting or writing of this film, I would guess more recent films like the Scream films or the I Know What You Did Last Summer films would suit you better. They are probably more on your intellectual level- and they are colored "right" too!. Leave the older films to the true connoisseurs if you don't appreciate them.
