Ennio Morricone

Haunting main theme. This is an underappreciated Morricone work, I think.

Agree. I love most of his work, have some of his scores on albums (not this one, sadly.) Even after all these decades, I can still hum parts of this film's main theme.

Et quid amabo nisi quod aenigma est...?

ArchFrenemy -- not only was the soundtrack LP of Morricone's THE RED TENT reissued on CD, but in 2010 a mildly expanded CD was released as a limited edition running about 16 minutes longer than the original album content. (I stated "mildly expanded" because there's still more music not yet released.)

The Italian label Legend issued both editions, but the longer and rare version is CD 30 DLX (for "deluxe," I'm guessing). Good luck on finding a copy today. It's such a great score; and it was great to get some of those additional music cues after nearly 40 years of just the original album! (The deluxe edition also has been remastered for better audio quality.)

Most great films deserve a more appreciative audience than they get.
