I remember seeing this animated sequel to The Wizard Of Oz when I was four and saw it recently on Cartoon Network and to my suprise it still holds up relatively well today. It isnt as good as The Wizard Of Oz (nowhere close in fact as Wizard is the greatest movie ever), it isnt even as good as Return To Oz, but it will probably entertain small children.

it's more like the book that the garland movie was but i do think it's strange that liza sounds so much like her mother it's almost eerie

shareThis is an awful film on every level and even by 1974 animation standards. I remember when I was a theatre manager in 1974 that kids would not sit still as it was so boring. Watching it now it seems the silly plot undoes THE WIZARD OF OZ as the scarecrow is still stupid, the tin man heartless and the lion is still a coward.
Even the good witch is a stilted mess who can't help.
Save your cash and give the kids a break. Watch TOY STORY again instead.

I personally think it is nowhere near as bad as some people say. Yes it is flawed, but I liked the songs and the animation wasn't that terrible, just a little dated.
This movie should be played for the terrorists at Gitmo.
At least Lizza Minneli's singing was good.
