German DVD release

The new German DVD release of 'Iguana...' features an English soundtrack option. Apparently, the transfer isn't great because the original film elements no longer exist. I don't know if amazon.de will carry this DVD but it's available from other online sellers. Will report back on the quality when my copy arrives.

Hi rj,
I am just wondering if you did manage to get the DVD of this film ? I have a strong interest in this film because I think it was partly filmed in my home town of Waterford, Ireland, way back in 1970 ? Do you have any knowledge of the locations used ? I would be most greateful for any information you could provide.
Many thanks,
Niall Ahearne

I bought a copy from chainsawvideo.nl (see my review for comments on the transfer quality). I'm not sure about the locations used, though I think one of the other Imdb reviews mentions Dublin. I'll check the credits for further information, but Italian thrillers of this era weren't big on production details.

I recently got the German (New Entertainment) DVD from Xploited Cinema. I was able to start watching it the other day (my remote was misplaced and my German isn't too hot). I will admit that the picture quality is not pristine, but with such an obscure film, there's not much point in complaining. School is rather hectic now, so I haven't had the chance to finish it. The main complaint I have with this release is that the (English) soundtrack seems to have been remixed. I have a couple of German DVDs of older films that have newly mixed 5.1 tracks, but the English is usually mono (as I think it is here). In the opening murder sequence (acid-to-the-face and throat slashing) the "gurgling blood" and "acid damage" sounds seem to be very exaggerated and unrealistic. I can't imagine it having sounded like that theatrically in 1971.
