An unbelievable performance

Seeing how it came out after Patton, it is easy to see why this movie is often overlooked. Scott's performance is equal to any in his career. I wish more people could see this film, to gain a better understanding of how powerful Scott could be as an actor.

I like this movie very much, even I don't know those medical phrase in the film. The dialogue is marvelous. The confusing medical system is always a huge bomb in this world.

you don't understand those medical phrases like I don't understand your post. wow.

Yeah, this film is great. My favorite Scott performance.

I think I prefer this over Network too.

One of George C. Scott's many memorable roles – perhaps even better than "Patton." The first scene with Diana Rigg has both humor and heartbreak, and he's wonderful there.

I saw this film when it first came out late in 1971. I loved it. It was very well received and Mr. Scott did earn a highly deserved Oscar nomination for this performance.

I think you can be assured that anytime Mr. Scott's career is studied, this film will be on the list for viewing.

Brilliant performance and a great screenplay by Paddy Chayefski.

I enjoyed his performance of Patton more because he brought a famous person to life. So it touches my heart more. That might diminish the importance of the film, but it how I feel. If I understand the film "Patton" correctly, that hero thought only of winning. The hero in this movie won by putting others before his happiness. Two sides of strength.

Agreed - this movie is a very underappreciated gem, and Scott's performance amazing.
