Hellstroms Hive
I have not seen this but I loved Frank Herberts Sci Fi novel Hellstrom's Hive which I believe was sort of an interesting poke at this documentary.

if you have read the book, you should remember that Nils Hellstrom made some movies about the insect world... Hellstrom Chronicle, the movie, could have been one of his works.
since the book is fiction/action/sci-fi and the movie is a near-true-documentary, it's difficult to relate the two together. but, as I say, the movie itself is an extension of the book and not an adaptation.
