Hammer was trying to make "arty" horror films...

like this and Vampire Circus... but they didn't get the directors who could have really pulled it off. Nicholas Roeg's "Don't Look Now", Robin Hardy's "The Wicker Man", and Ken Russell's "The Devils" were the types of music they should have been making.

I always thought the original "Wicker Man" has the vibe of an early 70's Hammer film.

I've never heard of "Don't Look Now," but -- after looking it up -- it looks interesting; I'll have to check it out, thanks.
