Just caught it!

Up late tonight and caught this on TV, I usually flick channels regularly
but never did throughout this great film, I'm one of those folks who
mutter thing like 'they don't make 'em like they used to', and really enjoyed
the performances and style of the film. It was sweaty and dusty and brilliantly acted, lots of smoking and hard drinking and people who looked real. I was thinking of films that have recently grabbed me like this and 'Red Road' (2006) compared well in terms of believable characters, setting and gripping plot. Check it out if you are nostalgic for the good old days.....

I agree. This film has a stark and unsparing grittiness to it that's both plausible and powerful in equal measure. Scott Wilson nd Kim Darby were absolutely outstanding in the leads.
