Original dub version vs. Sony's dub DVD

Sure the Sony DVD has fine technical contents and the welcomed Japanese version.
Great sound, the print has been cleaned up or restruck, and it's in 'scope. These are all no-brainers when making a commercial DVD release. But those in charge of this release tremendously dropped the ball by tossing the otherwise classic dub job that seved us for almost 40 years. American International's theatrical release that played on TV for decades and was used for the VHS Orion release has been scrapped in favor of a louzy new dub version that worse of all omits one of the most memerable things from "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster." Yes, the great title is gone too, but so is the awesome tune "Save the Earth" which plays throughout the film. This is a thankless DVD release and a classic example of "fixing" something that wasn't broken. It's more than likely not the case that the song rights are expensive, or the original sound elements couldn't be located in a film vault. It's just that people involved don't care about Godzilla. Gone forever, so hold on to your Orion/Filmways VHS, as it now appears to sell for $50 minimum on Amazon.
