Godzilla the hero?

I find it amusing that Godzilla is depicted as being heroic in this film when in fact he (in)directly causes at least eight deaths. First those guys playing that game (what is that anyway?) who get killed by the corrosive sludge that flies off of Hedora when Godzilla is flinging him around. Then those guys in the truck that get crushed by Hedora when Godzilla tackles him.

This is really the only movie I can think of from Godzilla's "superhero" days where they actually show collateral damage caused by him while fighting the villain. It's refreshing, but at the same time, a little disturbing that the film refuses to hold Godzilla culpable at all; it just conveniently ignores the fact Godzilla keeps accidentally killing innocent people and that stupid kid keeps cheering him on. Yeah, kid, well, your hero is pretty clumsy.

If you want to make an omlette you gotta break some eggs.

That's true, and I have no problem with Godzilla accidentally killing some bystanders here and there, but my beef is nobody calls Godzilla on it, least of all the annoying little kid.

Well, there might have been some collateral damage caused by Godzilla.
But he was attempting to stop Hedora. And if he didn't the casualty count would have been much higher.
