Alan Bates is so sexy,
He plays an even more appealing quasi-rustic in Far From the Madding Crowd, my favorite Hardy book and movie. He was sexy even after he gained a lot of weight later in life. He also was a masterful actor. What a man!

Yes, nothing is sadder than watching a formerly hot AND talented star succumb to age...and they all do it differently. Bates went faster, while actors like Michael York were still seducing gullible American chicks on TV ("Law and Order") well into the 21st Century.
And though women don't often fare as well, I must admit that I was charmed by Ms. Christie as the goddess/mother of Brad Pitt's Achilles in the recent film "Troy".
Let's just get it out: getting old SUCKS!
