extra trivia for The Go-Between


The bay (brown) horse in this film was called Stanly he was my Grandma's. The film used her horse and cart for the filming at Melton Constable Hall and then later in Cathedral Close in Tombland, Norwich when they take the character Leo to buy some new clothes.

Also, I do know what a bay horse is, even though many people don't.

I once knew a magnificent bay Clydesdale who was sent to the abattoirs as part of a deceased estate. Luckily, he got a reprieve because some chap at the abattoirs called up a saddler who had horses and sold the horse to him for the same value that his carcass would have been worth as dog's meat.
