The Curse

Late in the film, you see Leo performing some sort of ritual with the deadly nightshade berries....blending it in to some sort of solution. I wasn't quite sure what this was all about. I assume it was supposed to be some sort of curse. Could anyone enlighten me on what Leo's purpose was, here?

Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way.

He was in love with Marian and very jealous of Ted Burgess. He created that curse because he was at the height of a temper tantrum. I suppose the curse was to break them apart. When it really did happen with horrible tragedy, Leo felt that it was his fault.
