Is this worth seeing?

I love all of Sergio Leone's films but I haven't seen this, mainly because it is his least famous film and doesn't appear to be as highly praised as his other films. Is this worth buying?

reply

Yeah definitely, it's my second favourite of his and it's just a masterpiece in my opinion, and the most underrated...

Very much worth seeing. Worth buying, even. It's one of my favorite films in any genre. Subtle and intelligent, even with the big explosions. Rewards multiple viewings.

In my very humble opinion, this may be his best film. Highly underrated, incredibly cutted in various versions (I will never figure out why).
Luckily I am from Italy, where more or less the original cut was always mantained.
Watch it, buy it, love it!

Very underated and one of his best. Let's not forget "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"

I haven't seen this movie since its premiere in 71. My older brother saw it and always loved the USA version. I bought the 2-disc set of it yesterday and it was like going home again. I remember everything about it. This was truly one of Leone's best and a bittersweet closure to such a genre.

This movie sucks!

I see that A Fistful of Dollars has a higher rating on this website. Fistful is a good film, but Duck You Sucker makes it look insignificant. I like Leone's other Once Upon a Time films a little more, but I rank DYS along with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in joint third place.

NO. It is extremely long, and the stories in Once Upon a Time in America and the Man with No Name series are leaps and bounds better than this one. It is a muddled mess based on a revolution.
