Hey,
does anybody know which song is playing in the scene where they enter the bar in New York at the beginning? Sounds funky! :)

Don't think it was an actual song, probably just a funk groove that was grabbed out of the Fox library. The same thing with the melody in the French restaurant scene; that piece was also used in the film THE DETECTIVE.

Just giving this a bump. If anyone knows, please post about it here. It's not in the Film Score Monthly CD reissue of the soundtrack and when I asked them about it they thought I was asking about the Three Degrees song (which I wasn't).

Zombie bump. From a fairly deep fan of music from the period with funk holding a special place in my heart, it did not sound familiar at all and wrfarley is likely correct: an improv jam created by studio session musicians for license-free usage as movie/TV background music; said musicians could very well consist of famous names from known bands of the era picking up some side cash in their free time. I would not bet more than a couple days' wages on that, however, and hope to be proven wrong so I can discover new good music.
