They never broke down the tires from the wheels. Excellent place to hide contraband.

shareThere's a more interesting possible flaw brought up by a car expert in an earlier thread, one that seems implausibly plausible. He/she claimed there's no such thing as new cars leaving an assembly line with a set weight (I think they say the Lincoln in the film weighs 4,795 lbs, according to the owner's manual). The poster wrote that a new model car can come with so many different features and accessories (from transmissions to air conditioners to tire types, etc.) that it would be impossible to have a standard weight.

shareThere's plenty of possible hiding places that we can only assume are examined off screen.
The tires however are not among those: they are most certainly examined ON screen. It's the scene where the head mechanic (Irvin?) says: "There's nobody been under that car since it came from the factory."
