Baxter Estate holding up DVD release?

Hell, if they thought this film was one of her worst they should really watch 95% of her films. She had to be one of the hammiest actors. In fact I heard they show "The Ten Commandments" every Easter on TV so we all have some ham. The recently released "East of Eden" is another over-wrought performance from this bottom of the barrel "actress".

The AB estate not liking her performance just doesn't seem a plausible reason for the hold up on a DVD release. Maybe it was because the budget was so low that the actors had to forego any make-up.

I get so tired about some family of some actor or some historical figure depicted in a movie (Bear Bryant for example in The Bear - 1984 w/Gary Busey) keeping it from being released on DVD. How in the world could the Baxter estate get involved in the first place? This was a James Stewart film. Incredible!

reply

You're so right. It's really absurd that Baxter's estate keeps this movie from being released on DVD and becoming better known to the public worldwide.

reply

It was never on VHS, either.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

You must have been quite envious of Anne Baxter.

reply

Anne Baxter's family is Frank Lloyds Wrights family. But I am looking at it on Sony Movie Channel now. SO they must of lost.

reply

Unless Baxter owned the production company that produced the film I don't see how her estate has any say in the matter.

reply

I'm thinking it could be a music rights to Stars and Stripes Forever holding up the DVD release. I know that film has been released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

reply

It's also showing on the MOVES channel, for anyone who still hasn't seen it.
