If They Remade This Movie

Lea Michele should play Tzeitl and Mark Salling should be Perchik (but he should have a song!).

I would suggest a role for Natalie Portman, except for the fact that being Israeli, she doesn't want to play characters which would typecast as her as Jewish.

Jokes aside, this movie is perfect; Why fix what's not broken?

This movie needs no remake, it has aged well, if anything, they should release it again in the movie theaters for the new generations to enjoy it and realize what a masterpiece this is.

I'd rather see Lea play Hodel, if only to hear her sing "Far From the Home I Love". I like the song "Matchmaker, Matchmaker", but I do think her strength lies with lyrical songs with a lot of feeling to them.

As for Mark Salling, there is a song in the score that was written for Perchik, but it's pretty drab, and I'm not surprised Norman Jewison cut it from the film.

I think the biggest problem with a remake idea is Tevye. I can't think of a single actor around at the moment who's the right age and type to play Tevye (even though, to be fair, Topol was almost unknown when he made the film. But who could hope to match him?! )

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

How about Alfie Boe? He was great in Les Miz.

I'd hate to see a Fiddler remake, though. This one is just too good.

Alfred Molina - who starred in the last Broadway revival, has both the stage chops and the film Q.

If they remade this movie it would be a sin against God.

Surely Heather Matarazzo is the only one with the looks to pull this off. But let's hope they never remake it, and burn the original. Dated, cheesy, just stinks.

Like all classic films I'd hate to see this film remade. It's good as is.

Having said that I'd like to see some other footage that didn't make the final cut. There's lots that was caught on film in the crowd and marriage scenes.

Fiddler will never be remade. Very few major motion pictures are musicals. The studios love movies with lots of special effects that appeal to seven year old children.

reply

NO REMAKE. Just re-issue this film. The film is very powerful when you see it on the big screen
