I have a feeling that half the cast would be ethnicities not native to Jewish Russian villages because... "diversity".

If anyone's going to remake Fiddler, it should be the Coen brothers. A Serious Man is practically a modern retelling. Kinda like to see John C. Riley or John Goodman as Tevye and maybe Fred Melamed as Lazar Wolf. Not that it needs a remake; the movie is perfect as it is.
