torture

I heard somewhere that while filming this, Herzog was tortured but thats all I heard. Does anyone know the story behind that at all?

reply

No idea. He doesn't mention it at all in the commentary to this movie.

The only incidences of torture I can think of in Herzog's work is the disquisition in "Lessons of Darkness" and the actual experience of watching "Invicible" in the movie theatre. Oh, and the dancing chickens in "Stroszek."

Jesus... is it me or has Herzog been through all type of hazards and extreme situations in order to make his films?... Maybe that's why his films are so good and "different"...

The void is a mirror.

That's interesting, has he done a couple of different commentaries for this movie? He mentions being arrested and tortured on the US Herzog box-set DVD. And again on the Even Dwarfs DVD.

reply

I read it was one of his camera men who happened to have the same name of a wanted criminal.
