re: One of the forgotten classics

As the title states, one of he forgotten classics.
This film is way over 30 years old when I first saw it as 10 year old.

Because it's been so long since I have seen this movie, I can't remember much about the details, except that John Astin who plays Evil ROy Slade as an inept evil-doer. His antics kept me in stitches from the moment he appeared until his character left the screen.

That I do know.

I would generally love to own this film know. And so would you. It reminds me or takes the best from each of these films - Support Your Local Sheriff (1969), Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971), They Call Me Trinity (1971), Blazing Saddles (1974); and comes up with, "Evil Roy Slade" (1972).

One movie that you must see if you are feeling down in anyway...

If only I could get this on DVD. I would be a happy man.

Please if you ever get the chance to watch this movie do so...

John Astin has never been funnier, ever.

Glad someone loves tthis movie. I would love to get it, but its so hard to find.

Another classic comedy western to look out for is - Support your local Sheriff, starring James Garner and Jake Elms.

Please watch this as well. On par with Evil Roy Slade. Both films are must see movies.

But I would love to see - Evil Roy Slade again. It is a classic move and should be in the top 250 as well

I was telling my son about the tears of laughter resulting from John Astin's performance in this film. I would dearly love to have a copy of Evil Roy Slade to relive the enjoyment it gave me some thirty years ago. Whoever finds a supplier of tape or DVD, please let me know. I would love to let my son see it. Thanks.

One of my most favorite scenes ever:

Roy is at a high-society party with a small string ensemble. Trying to impress his lady friend and others with his new-found manners, etc., Roy demands that the cello player "Put that thing on yer shoulder where it belongs... there's ladies present."

Never laughed so hard.

The one and only time I saw it was when it aired in 1972. Always wondered why it's stayed on the shelf since then. John Astin could have made a new career out of playing this character, but instead kept working steady in mostly mediocre fare. And imagine if it had gone from TV to the theatres! A new Evil Roy Slade movie every two or three years! Hollywood and TV land really dropped the ball on this.

Whatever you do, DO NOT read this sig--ACKKK!!! TOO LATE!!!

I agree. A series could've been made after this film yet it stops at the very first installment. What a damn shame.
