Love this movie but mann could've easily escaped.

It's been discussed here before but when he hides in the bushes while the truck drives by mann could've easily turned around the other way. We don't know how much time has passed but if it was an hour or so there's no way the truck would've caught up to him.

My only theory is the driver knew he was hiding there and wanted to toy with him more thinking he didn't know his plan. Even if that's the case he still waited for him to approach he would have no way of knowing if Mann would step up his intelligence and just turn around. Unless he somehow had a view of mann's car from the spot the trucker stopped but I highly doubt it.

Mann was stubborn; he did not want to turn around. After the truck sped on for a while, the driver must has surmised that he had overtaken Mann at some point. I think he waited on a venture, to see if Mann would appear.

The truck driver was 'hunting' Mann.

(Do you get that's why itwas Weaver's last name in the movie?  Manhunt!

In other words ,even if Mann had decided to leave the situation ,the truck driver wasn't letting him out of it. The only way Mann could bet him was to finally outsmart him.

How the driver didn't see Mann jump out of the car I
don't know ,unless he was so psychotic ,he didn't see the difference.

Was anyone else disappointed the first time you watched...when the truck didn't explode? That's usually a given in a film like this but I'm betting Speilberg wasn;t intoa 'cheap & obvious' ,audience grabbing tactic like that.
