Bad Title

Duel: a contest with deadly weapons arranged between two people in order to settle a point of honor.

Hunt or Attack or something along those lines would have been apt.

It should be against the law to use "LOL" unless you really did LOL!

It is a hunt or attack, but in the end Mann manages to turn it into a duel with his own car and wins. That's why it's called "Duel". I watched an interview with the writer.

"The solution is obvious--Sergeant Wu is the mastermind."

reply

Yup, and towards the end I believe there's a part where the truck waits on the side of the road and revs its engine, rather than getting out and speaking to Mann or outright killing him, which it could have done. This was a clear signal to Mann that the truck wanted to have some kind of showdown.

'Hunt' or 'Attack' is not nearly as cool as Duel

You're too literal, man. 'Cat and Mouse' would have worked too, even though neither critter appeared in the movie.

reply

Duel, sounds like dual, as in dual rear tires on the rig?

Game over, man, game over!

reply

Yeah, they should have called it something like "Attack of the Crazy Truck Driver".

I don't always like one-word titles for films, but I can't think of a better name for this one. This turns out to be a story of a battle to the death. Also the word 'duel' can be used figuratively to describe any battle of wits. Again this is appropriate.
