WHY ON EARTH do Ilike this movie ?

I know this movie is one of the weakest of the entire franchise : Tiffany is stupid, Bond is lazy, Blofeld is unscary and camp, the plot is ridiculous and the setting is not exotic at all.

But for some reasons, I love the movie for its strange athmosphere, its era, some of its musical themes...

It's almost "so bad that it's good".
Does anyone feel the same way ?

I think the Vegas setting helps. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't like it as much as I do.

Used to be one of my least favorites, but I've come to enjoy it more than most Bond films of the last 20 years.

Atmosphere, the early 70's, 70's Vegas at that, one of the best title songs, Charles Gray's villain (he's a wrong Blofeld, but still a decent villain...if that makes sense.), Jimmy Dean, and the fact that Connery's worst official Bond film is still better than a lot of other Bond actors' movies.

To be honest, it's still flawed. The era of Bond camp/self-parody really began here. And after the opening scene, Bond's revenge mindset against Blofeld fades.
Lana Wood, in her brief role, is hotter than Jill St. John. There's no reason the military wouldn't just blast that oil rig off the planet, Tiffany Case/Bond heroics be damned. Why are Kidd and Wint still trying to kill Case and Bond at the end? (Is that acknowledging that Blofeld is still alive?)

I think it started with You only live twice...

You like this movie because its awesome, plain and simple! It's effortless to watch, and somehow keeps you entertained as it moves along. No long boring segments, hot chicks, good action sequences and fights, and amazing dialog.

The music and atmosphere are just awesome to experience, and for those reasons and more, Diamonds is on my top 5 list of best bonds of all time!

As for the weakest, according to who?? UGH! Diamonds is the best and I don't care if I'm in the minority! THEY don't know what they are missing, which is James Bond at it's best!

I love DAF too, Dave. I just watched it again recently and once again had a blast. It's thoroughly entertaining and still hilarious. Gotta love Vegas, too!

It's probably my least favorite Connery film to be honest (all of his are excellent though) but I'm more willing to watch it at any given moment than all but a few of the films in the series.

They say a thriller is as good as its villain, and Wint & Kidd are arguably the most evil villains in the series. A gay couple shoving Bond into a coffin to burn him alive is bizarre, sick and humorous - which basically sums up the film. It’s a nasty, campy treat with memorable moments that beckons you back every couple of years.

I love it also but mostly for early 70s nostalgia.
My first Bond also, saw it Age 9 with my sister In the summer of 71.
It is pretty entertaining and effortless to watch

it is a Sean Connery James Bond movie so that is pretty badass. I have to re watch this one. I have seen Dr. No, Goldfinger, the one were he goes to Japan, and From Russia with Love countless time but this one only once. I was pretty baked and dont think i remember much of it will have to watch it again soon

it's so groovy, i love it, you have yet to watch "thunderball" and "never say never again" i guess, check out he dvd on this for deleted scenes, weird how they cut out sammy davis jr. notice it looks like tiffany puts out the cigarette in bond's hairy chest. the guy in the mud pie scene did a fairly good job keeping still as bond hoses him down. peter franks surely didn't have much dialogue. how about the sideburns on some of the people in this. marc lawrence appears in two bond movies in the 1970s, i wonder sometimes if there's a connection and the same role, he's dressed the same in both movies. blofeld: - "what a pity. such nice cheeks too. if only they were brains.", the two jolly guys are so funny, "very attractive... for a lady." and the face expression of his... well... buddy, and the end scene, spoiler, when bond throws him overboard as he explodes is the funniest part of the movie "wooo! wow!" 😮 😃 😍 💥
