Why does it do this?
Can someone please tell me why at the start of the movie, they go back to the first episode, with them not knowing each other until they get recruited. can someone please enlighten on me?

Presumably it was for the international market for audiences unfamiliar with the TV series. The Home Guard was unique to Britain and would take some understanding.
shareExactly correct, a lot of these types of films were made in order to test the format abroad (particularly the US) prior to trying to sell the series. "And Now For Something Completely Different", and "The Best Of Benny Hill" are prime examples of this practice.
