1970's: Golden Age of TV Movies

The Golden Age of made-for-tv movies was the 1970's. Once a week. (later more often, when other networks saw the trend), in a 90-minute time slot, we were treated to a ¨movie of the week¨, which was so awesome so much of the time, the phrase ¨movie of the week¨ persisted years after its literal meaning ceased to be accurate. That's how notable it was.

Also in my ¨Golden Age¨: The one with Charles Durning and Maureen Stapleton...Stardust Ballroom? That was good. Also, ¨Duel¨, ¨Crawlspace¨ ¨Thursday's Game¨ & ¨Isn't it Shocking?¨

I've never seen the following, but they appear to be so highly regarded by commenters I respect that I must include their choices: ¨They Never Kill their Masters¨ is apparently awesome, and that one with Ted Danson molesting a girl named ¨Amelia¨, and something gay with Michael Ontkean.

Have I overlooked any other '70s classics?

Y'all have reminded me of classic ones I never saw:

Something gay with Michael Ontkean? You mean before "Making Love," which wasn't a TV movie and wasn't from the '70s?

That's a decent list, but with so many great TV movies from the '70s, it's just the beginning. "Trilogy of Terror," "Gargoyles," "The Night Stalker," "Brian's Song," "Go Ask Alice," "Maybe I'll Come Home in the Spring" and various "Portrait of ..." films come to mind immediately.

There's plenty of discussion on that topic on this board, though threads often die out:
