Sandy Van Andy

I look at the reporters in this movie who are parodies of the popular journalists of the time: "Walter Chronic" (Walter Cronkhite), "David Chetley" (David Brinkley and Chet Huntley), "Paul Hardly" (Paul Harvey), "Hugh Upson" (Hugh Downs), "Arthur Lordly" (Arthur Godfrey). But on who is "Sandy Van Andy" based? I used to watch newscasts from that time period but don't remember any reporter with a similar name.

Sandy Van Andy is based on 1960's NBC News correspondent Sander Vanoucer, who is still alive, and was all over NBC News in the 60s and early 70's.

Okay. Never heard of him.

There are two more in the trailer, who don't appear in the film: "Hardly Reasonable" (Harry Reasoner) and "Mike Walrus" (Mike Wallace). I don't know who plays Hardly Reasonable, but Mike Walrus is played by Paul Dooley.

Yeah, they're dead; they're--all messed up!

His name is actually spelled Sander Vanocur, if you want to try Googling him.
