Christopher Mott Society

so I'm guessing this was supposed to be the John Birch Society, right?

reply

Yes a group that has little influence and few members in this day and time. I was wondering does anybody know where Norman Lear got the name of Christopher Mott? Is it some kind of inside joke or just a funny sounding name.

reply

An obviously uninformed, if not ignorant, comment "little influence and few members". You might benefit from doing some fact checking, hoss.

reply

Ok "Hoss". Inform me. How many members does the John Birch Society have? Also when is the last time any politician or anybody with any influence in anything gave some kind of credit to the John Birch Society.

reply

The John Birch Society almost lost its raison d'etre upon the end of the cold war and the breakup of the Soviet Union.

Another PR disaster happened thanks to their former president, John Schmitz (a David Niven look-alike), who ran for president in 1972. Schmitz, a married father of seven children who loudly proclaimed his fealty to family values, was exposed as an adulterer, whose mistress had a toddler son whom both parents abused.

One of Schmitz's daughters was Mary Kay LeTourneau, the 30-year-old schoolteacher who seduced her 12-year-old pupil, and married him when he came of age.
