Do you think they kicked that dog for real?

The scene where some dog is just sitting on a sidewalk minding it's own business when a man just kicks it so hard it goes flying out of frame. The dog sitting and panting looks real, but it flew out of frame a little too easily to be a real dog.

If you're wondering what I'm talking about the scene could be seen in the trailer at the 1:28 mark on YouTube

I'm sure it's not real, but they handled the editing very well. They seemed to switch to some kind of pulley so the dog would appear to soar. I played that scene several times when I watched this film a few years ago, and I've played that trailer a few more times now.

wow... great editing... and I didn't think of the pulley... It does look like he kicked it a bit or they timed it where the pulley pulled it away as he was faking the kick...

It does look very real, especially because they relied on old-school special effects rather than CGI. Of course, a lot of CGI today looks fake to me.

It's disturbing and almost ruins what was always one of my favorite satires. It's also a bit of a tribute to L'Age d'Or, a movie I'm less certain about its animal protection.

Animal abuse should never be depicted---real OR faked.
