Message on screen?

I would have been 16 when this was shown. We were watching it at home when, during the childbirth scene, the message "Warning to viewers" flashed up. My mother took this to be a warning of disturbing content to come and decided to switch off. Personally I was doubtful, because the BBC usually has the announcer issue warnings of that kind before the programme starts.
I later read the book and loved it. IIRC there is some satirical comment at that point about lurid descriptions of childbirth in books. Can anyone remember seeing this message - was it put in as part of the humour, or was it just some info. for local viewers and not part of the drama at all?
