The 4K release

So I have seen the DVD and the Blu Ray releases as well and they all seem to be the same version but are these the original X rated release or the edited R rated versions? From what I have read the R rated version was only used on HBO and some VHS releases but starting with the DVD it was always the original X rated cut. Is there any truth to this?
