Does this refer to the year of production of the sports car they steal? Someone else says there are 70s dates shown on newspapers, but a post-1995 date makes more sense due to the amount of societal change. Perhaps the newspaper dates were an oversight and the car name is a real indication of the date.

it is supposed to be the year of the car. its set in the future but Kubrick put the dates in the newspapers from the 70's (1972 I think) he also put Alex last name as Burgess in the newspaper, when in fact it was DeLarge.

one of the headlines in that paper also read's "Marty Feldman's wife Banned" lol
