Was it the drugs that caused violence?

Was rape and violence part of everyday life or was it the drugs Alex and others consumed that caused such behavior?

reply

For the most part I believe so, the milk they drank was laced.

"My greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live"

I think the drugs may have sharpened up the instinct for violence but not the direct cause. There are a lot of other customers in the Korova milk bar who don't go out on rampages. And Alex isn't changed by his time in prison without the drugs.

reply

Not at all. If what they did was drug induced then that would completely undermine the message of the film, and I don't think the milk they drank was a hard drug that would induce violence, probably something more akin to alcohol or weed.

reply

I think the names of the drugs spoke for themselves.
For instance synthamesc = mescaline
Ones that have drenal = adrenaline

reply

Of course not . The drugs sharpened them up .
