Remind me not to let Chato protect my wife

So instead of riding away forever after killing the sherrif, brilliant Chato decides to circle them and keep an eye on them, drawing them closer and closer to his wife. Smart guy. Then, when the posse is at its closest point yet, he decides to go out one day and leave his wife behind. We all saw what happend to her. How can a character be so skilled yet so stupid?

The white part of him acting out. OOOOOOOOH :)

I agree.

For an 'expert' at tracking and desert survival, and as a man with a young family, Chato didn't seem to show very much regard or concern for them.

I have always thought that this was a very leading error in the plot, and completely irrational to the story, except to incite the rape of his wife and the murder of his son.

Pretty silly story with bad writing! Made no sense to me. He had no problem killing the sheriff straight out but toyed with the others. 1 you lead them far away from your family. 2 kill em quick with the 10 indians you spoke with on the road.

Chato didn't have much of a choice the first time. He was about to get shot by the sheriff so he either had to react quickly and kill the sheriff "straight out"... or simply do nothing and accept getting killed just because he wasn't white.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

No I get it, the Sheriff was a dick and deserved what he got. I just wish Charles Bronson would have protected his family. He should have kept an eye on the posse till he was sure they were giving up. I Loved him in Mr. Majestic!!
