The mexican scout

hi,

great film to say at first.

why is chato rejoicing, when he sees
that his pursuers are with the mexican scout?

i liked the religious guy, so i did not understand
he had to die that way, but maybe the movie wants
to show how bad it is to let bad things happen and
"just pray" without changing something?

I don't know that he is ever "rejoicing," but Chato needs the Mexican scout because he wants the posse to be able to follow his trail, and the scout is the only one he can count on to pick up the clues he is deliberately leaving for them. Chato intended to lead the posse out into the middle of nowhere and strand them with no water, figuring they would then have to give up the chase and go home. Then Chato could return to his own family without fear of being followed. Unfortunately, this is where Chato proves to be fallible too as he underestimates the determination of the Hooker brothers to find and kill him and the resourcefulness of ex-Confederate and Indian fighter Quincy Morris.

Yeah, thatΒ΄s a very good explanation, I agree with your thoughts.

that makes sense.

How Chato should know about the character of the followers? He couldn't. So he kills all (or would if they wouln't had killed themselves).

I don't think he was rejoicing about the scout, but he was surprised at how good he was.

Chato should have killed the scout first.

Without the scout it would have ended then and there.
