About the 'fight' scene...

Anyone else notice how it seems that Ann-Margret started laughing while shouting "sleeping all day!"? There's a pretty abrupt cut right after she drops her head...maybe it's just me...

According to the IMDB:

"The fight scene between Nicholson and Ann-Margret took a week to shoot, and at the end of it both performers had lost their voices."

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Ann-Margaret was scared to be in the same room with Jack Nicholson by the time they finished filming all takes of the scene. I guess his acting was so intense, he frightened her.

I assume that AM was indeed laughing. She probably did this in order to blow off some nervous energy. Chances are, the producers had to stop the camera while she regained her composure.

Afraid?

Interesting. Maybe she was scared of how pissed Jack would get if the scene wasn't just right.

I'm not sure. I don't know how fussy Jack Nicholson can be on the set of his movies. I do know Jack is an excellent actor. Chances are, he remained "in character" in between takes and this intimidated Ann-Margret.

Have you seen "Taxi Driver" ('76)? I seem to remember reading somewhere that Cybill Shepherd felt uncomfortable during the filming of certain scenes. I guess Robert DeNiro's performance was a little too realistic at times (especially when her character rejected his character and he "became" hostile).

That always seemed to be part of the performance to me. Her laughter is in realizing the irony of her circular argument.

DidnĀ“t notice that, but the whole scene was rather poorly played, very overwrought and stagey.
