So Bette was only 62 when this was filmed?

She looked much older unfortunately. 62 is the age Meryl Streep is now and she and other actresses don't look as aged as poor, wonderful Bette.

Perhaps because most older actresses now feel a pressure to resort to cosmetic surgery in order to remain youthful looking.

I dunno, she looks about 62 to me. The whole point of the movie was to portray her as a senior citizen forced into a life of crime. So, easy on the make-up, costumes, etc. Not a lot of actresses have the courage to look their age in a film - Bette Davis did.

She looked okay to me, and she was a lot thinner than she was in the 1960s.
In this film, I think she looks rather well and even better looking that she was from the late 1950s too.
