The Ending

I would like to know more about the ending. Who or what were the hooded figures with the flaming swords? The children were between the ages of 6-9 because the number of the Beast 666. The number 6 turned upside down is 9. The mother had a vision of what already happened. But it also showed in the dream the death of herself and the childs father. Are they supposed to be dead at the end? The ending was left wide open for many different outcomes. What happens to the town? Do the children run the community now? Will all the adults be killed? Is the entire town damned? Can anyone help me out with answers to these questions? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I have always wondered who or what the hooded figures were too. My take on the ending is that when all the older Satanists died their souls went into the children so they could be the next generation of Satan worshippers. My question is why did Ben and Nicky survive if all the parents of the other children die violently?

the coven needed the children to be reborn in their bodies.(because they were old and didn't want to die)in the end they get what they want and that's it.the hooded figures were just attending to the ceremony and doing the honors(running the coven members through with swords en route to being reborn).notice at the end when you see the children's toys, etc.lying on the floor you see little figurines dressed like the hooded figures...that's a running theme throughout the movie, toys being used to project life sized threats like the toy tank from the beginning and the little statue of the knight on the horse that comes to life and decapitates the boy's father.as for why ben and nicky are left alive, the coven only seems to kill parents who are directly in the way of the children being abducted at the time.
