Production

We're putting this on in college in March, just wondering if this version's any good to see for help with it and stuff. I'm playing Lady Brockhurst.

Soon, we must all have to choose between what is right, and what is easy.

Do NOT watch the movie...! It has nothing to do with the stage musical. It has the songs and all but they're intentionally badly done. The movie is more about the backstage romance, etc.... the movie thinks it's funny but it's not. Break a leg with your college production; I envy you. I once offered to direct this show for my local community playhouse. The "bored" of directors was just a bunch of butchers and bakers; they don't know theatre. They acted like they'd never heard of the show before. So they did "Jerry's Girls" instead. Hah! It was a bomb...! God bless you for doing it..!

I didn't choose it, none of us had ever heard of it before Matt (Theatre Studies teacher) came out with it on the first day of Enrichment. Anyway, thanx for the support!! I'll post all through the rehearsal process, let you know how it's going. Right now we're working up to do a sort of cabaret performance of Perfect Young Ladies, Nice in Nice, Room in Bloomsbury, Never Too Late and The Boy Friend the day gefore we break up for Christmas.

Well, it's done! We finished it on Saturday, after threee nights. I went fantastic! The principal came back afterwards and said how great it was and that we should all be proud. Then we found out that he'd never done that before, so we were all... VERY pleased with ourselves!

I would agree the movie has little to do with the musical, but as an objective movie lover and lover of musicals, I remember this film was an absolute delight, and that the choice of Twiggy for the lead, which appalled me at the time, was either a stroke of genius or the greatest piece of casting luck since Ronald Reagan turned down the chance to play "Rick" in Casablanca.
