Antonia Ellis

What a pity she doesn't pop up on TV and films more often...she'd fab as Maisie.

reply

Yes, she is obviously a great talent in this film. What happened?

reply

I think she still does theatre.

reply

She was great in Ken Russell's Mahler too as was Georgina Hale.

I LOVE Antonia as Maisie in the Boyfriend. Such spark she had with her terrific energetic dancing and those sly eyes of her and that great Cheshire cats grin she flashes.

I love how she thinks she's the star of the show and how eveyone else is beneath her. Her smile at the end is heartbreaking.

She should clearly have been a star and worked in other film musicals! The Boyfriend was not a hit when it was released. If it had been, all the actors in movie would have benefited from it. As it was, they were forgotten...

Long live Antonia Ellis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is Married with two grown children living in L.A.

In 1995 she showed up at a Ken Russell fest at the Director's Guild on Sunset. She introduced "The Boyfriend." (It was the cut version; we were informed at the time they couldn't find an existing print of the longer version. ) It was amazing--24 years later she looked and acted exactly the same as she is in the movie (in a good way!). She had all sorts of fun things to say about working on the movie and I sat in the front row and even got to ask her a question (a dumb one, so I won't repeat it, ha ha). Walking back to my car we turned to see her strolling through the parking lot, talking broadly to her handsome young companion for the screening, her long kimono-like dress and matching head-scarf billowing in the evening breeze. We were so tempted to ask her to join us for a drink, but chickened out.

She was REALLY cool...

Nilbog! It's goblin spelled backwards! This is their kingdom!
