that soulful look does not quite work. Is she looking at the director instead of straight at the audience. You keep seeing her looking at the ceiling, when she should read looking straight at you or at her costars.
That's just the way Twiggy looks. She has always struck me as a bit shy, and eye contact doesn't come naturally to her. I think that look fits her character here quite well.

sharePlus here she's kidding the image of vapid saucer-eyed ingenues like Ruby Keeler, so I don't think the "soulful" look is really intended to be deep--it's supposed to be a bit silly.
shareI thought she was fantastic. I've never seen this movie before. I had no idea she could sing and dance. And she looked fabulous!
shareI'm not sure if you meant it this way, but many of the actors on stage were looking in the direction of the director in the box, watching the play, instead of out at the audience. If I remember correctly, Twiggy did this less than the other characters.
